Your Safe Recovery Starts Here
Post-Operative Instructions
Thank you for choosing Evita Clinic for your body contouring journey.
A tummy tuck — especially when combined with liposuction (Lipoabdominoplasty) — is a powerful procedure to restore a slimmer, more sculpted figure. But healing well is just as important as the surgery itself.
That’s why we provide personalized care and detailed instructions to help every patient recover safely and confidently. Please follow the steps below carefully to support a smooth recovery.
1. REST IS HEALING
After surgery, your body needs time to rest and restore.
-
Take at least 7 days off from work or daily duties.
-
Arrange for someone to help you with meals, movement, and transportation during the first 3 days.
-
Sleep well, stay calm, and give yourself permission to fully rest.
Even if you feel strong — your body is working hard to heal from the inside.
2. SURGICAL DRAINS
To safely remove fluid from under your skin, two small drains are placed during surgery.
-
They usually stay in for 3–4 days, depending on fluid levels.
-
You will be taught how to empty them and record the amount at least 3–4 times a day.
If liposuction was performed, you may notice some fluid leaking from your lower back incision for one day. This is normal, and we will provide a soft diaper to keep you comfortable and clean.

3. COMPRESSION GARMENTS
Compression helps reduce swelling, shape your results, and support healing.
-
After surgery, we will place an abdominal binder for immediate support.
-
On the next day, you’ll begin wearing your compression garment, which should be worn:
-
24 hours/day for 4 weeks, then
-
12 hours/day for another 4 weeks
-
Always keep it snug but not too tight. This garment is a key part of your recovery.
4. WOUND & BELLY BUTTON CARE
Caring for your incisions keeps you safe and infection-free.
-
Keep your incision CLEAN and DRY at all times.
-
Avoid soaking in bathtubs, hot springs, or saunas for 6–8 weeks.
-
Only shower when approved by your surgeon — we will let you know when it’s safe.
-
Pay special attention to the belly button area — check for any signs of redness, warmth, swelling, or pain.
We will provide you with wound care supplies and teach you how to manage them during your follow-up visits.
♀️ 5. MOVEMENT & DAILY ACTIVITIES
Early movement is good — it keeps your blood circulating and helps prevent complications.
✅ Do:
-
Walk gently as soon as possible.
-
Sleep with your upper body elevated and a pillow under your knees to reduce tension.
-
Start light activities after the first week.
-
Resume exercise after 4 weeks.
-
Sexual activity is fine once you feel comfortable — usually after 2–3 weeks.
❌ Don’t:
-
Drive or operate machines for at least 7 days.
-
Do not smoke or stay near smokers — this affects blood flow and slows healing.

6. PAIN & SYMPTOMS
Some discomfort is normal — we’re here to help you manage it.
-
You’ll receive pain medications to keep you comfortable.
-
Mild pain, swelling, bruising, and tightness in the abdomen are all normal and will slowly fade over 2–3 months.
-
Upper abdominal bloating is common. This may make eating uncomfortable at first.
Tips for easier meals:
-
Eat small portions frequently
-
Stick to soft foods
-
Chew thoroughly and drink enough fluids
