Liposuction Preparation Timeline

Your Step-by-Step Guide to a Safe and Smooth Surgery

Liposuction is a fast and straightforward procedure compared to tummy tuck surgery. At Evita Clinic, we want to help you prepare both mentally and physically so you can enjoy the best possible results. Below is your preparation and recovery timeline.

1 Day Before Surgery

  • Fasting is essential. Do not eat or drink anything for at least 8 hours before surgery. Anesthesia during liposuction is performed under sleep sedation, and leftover food in the stomach can cause vomiting and block your airway during the procedure.

  • Remove nail polish or artificial nails. A fingertip sensor will monitor your oxygen level during surgery. Nail coatings can interfere with this.

  • Get mentally prepared. You may experience soreness and tightness, but it’s all part of the process. A good night’s sleep is strongly recommended.

Surgery Day

  • Take a light shower in the morning. Please do not apply makeup, lotions, or perfume. Remove all jewelry and accessories.

  • Wear loose, comfortable clothes. Arrive early to avoid delays. If you’re running late, call the clinic to inform us.

1 Day After Surgery

  • Visit the clinic for follow-up care. This includes incision dressing and wound evaluation.

  • Compression garments will be applied. Wear it:

    • 24 hours a day for the first 2 weeks

    • 12 hours a day for the next 2 weeks

  • Move your body. Light movement is encouraged even from Day 1. You may return to normal activities or work as you feel comfortable.

  • You can shower. Incisions are sealed with waterproof tape, so gentle showering is safe.

  • Moisturize regularly. Your skin may feel dry post-lipo, so hydration is key.

10–14 Days After Surgery

  • Visible improvements begin. Swelling decreases and stitches are removed.

  • Post-op massage provided. If you are in Korea, weekly massages are available. If you’ve returned home, regular workouts help improve lymphatic flow and results.

  • Scar care education. You’ll be advised on scar creams and how to use Steri-strips.

1 Month After Surgery

  • Swelling mostly gone. You’ll see the real shape emerge.

  • Compression garment adjustment. If it feels loose, we can call in our partner garment specialist to resize it.

  • High-frequency massage offered. Aimed at improving skin tightening.

  • Stretching, exercise, and self-massage are essential. These help tone your body and reduce fibrosis.

  • Continue scar care. Long-term use of Steri-strips and scar gel is recommended.
