FTM Top Surgery Guide
This guide explains the postoperative dressing and scar management materials used after Keyhole FTM Top Surgery at Evita Clinic.
Most Important Notes
- Do not remove the mesh yourself. Polyprone Mesh should remain in place unless instructed otherwise.
- Keep the incision clean and dry. Avoid unnecessary dressing changes during the first week.
- Use Steri-Strips for 4–8 weeks. They help support the incision and reduce scar widening.
- Watch the Steri-Strip Video. Proper application technique helps reduce scar tension and may improve long-term scar quality.
- Begin scar gel only after complete healing. Scarheal Gold Gel should not be applied to open wounds.
Postoperative Dressing Timeline
Polyprone Mesh
Polyprone Mesh is applied immediately after surgery.
Polyprone Mesh is placed along the incision line immediately after surgery to protect the wound and support healing.
- No routine dressing changes are required during the first 5–7 days.
- The mesh will gradually loosen or be removed during your follow-up visit.
- Do not remove the mesh yourself unless instructed by your surgeon.
Steri-Strip
Steri-Strips help support the incision and reduce scar widening.
After the Polyprone Mesh has detached or been removed, Steri-Strips are applied to support the incision during healing.
- Apply perpendicular to the incision line.
- Replace only when the strips become loose or fall off naturally.
- Continue using Steri-Strips for approximately 4–8 weeks.
How to Apply Steri-Strips

Correct Steri-Strip application helps reduce tension on the incision and may improve long-term scar quality.
- Clean and dry the skin completely.
- Bring the wound edges together gently.
- Apply each strip perpendicular to the incision line.
- Leave 2–3 mm spacing between strips.
- Do not overlap, pull, or stretch the strips.
- Replace only when loose or naturally detached.
Scarheal Gold Gel
Scarheal Gold Gel for long-term scar management.
Scarheal Gold Gel contains sodium heparin, allantoin, and dexpanthenol and is used for postoperative scar care.
- Begin only after the incision has healed completely.
- Start after Steri-Strip therapy has been completed.
- Apply a thin layer 2–3 times daily.
- Gently massage until absorbed.
- Continue for at least 2–3 months for optimal scar management.
- Do not apply to open wounds or irritated skin.
General Recovery Notes
- Attend all scheduled follow-up visits.
- Avoid strenuous exercise and heavy lifting for at least 4 weeks.
- Keep the incision area clean and dry.
- Continue wearing your compression garment as instructed.
- Follow all instructions provided by your surgeon.
- Contact the clinic if you notice increasing redness, swelling, pain, discharge, or wound separation.
Important Note
Healing speed and scar appearance vary from person to person. Consistent dressing care and scar management can significantly improve long-term scar quality.
