Neck Laser Liposuction Guide
Recovery after neck laser liposuction is usually straightforward, but swelling, tightness, temporary numbness, and changes in skin sensation are normal during healing. This guide explains what to expect and how to care for the treated area after your procedure at Evita Clinic.
Most Important Notes
- Swelling is expected for about 1 week. Mild to moderate swelling under the chin and around the neck is normal.
- Final results take time. The skin needs time to contract and attach smoothly, so visible results usually improve over 2–3 months.
- Use cold packs safely. Always wrap the ice pack in a towel before applying it to avoid frostbite or skin injury.
- Wear your chin and face compression band. We generally recommend wearing it for about 1 week after surgery.
- Contact the clinic immediately if breathing becomes difficult. Sudden severe neck swelling or breathing difficulty requires urgent contact.
Immediately After Surgery
- Quiet rest is recommended for the first few hours after surgery.
- Do not drive or operate machinery for at least 18 hours after surgery.
- Keep your head elevated above the level of your heart to help reduce swelling.
- A cold pack may be applied to the treated area as instructed.
- Do not massage the neck or face immediately after surgery.
Cold Pack Care
You will receive an ice pack when you leave the clinic. Cold application can help reduce swelling and discomfort during the early recovery period.
- Always wrap the ice pack in a clean towel before applying it to the skin.
- Do not place ice directly on the skin.
- Apply gently around the treated area, not with strong pressure.
- Remove the ice pack if the skin becomes too cold, painful, pale, or numb.
- Direct ice contact may cause frostbite or skin injury.
Compression Tape and Chin Band
Compression Tape
Compression tape may be applied immediately after surgery to support the treated area and reduce early swelling.
- The compression tape is usually removed the next day.
- Do not remove it yourself unless instructed by the clinic.
- Contact the clinic if the tape feels too tight or causes skin discomfort.
Chin and Face Compression Band
After the compression tape is removed, we recommend wearing the chin and face compression band for about 1 week.
- This helps support skin attachment after fat removal.
- It may help reduce swelling.
- Wear it as instructed by the clinic.
- Do not make it excessively tight.
Swelling and Skin Tightening
Neck laser liposuction uses laser energy to help stimulate tissue tightening while removing localized fat. Because the skin needs time to contract and settle, results are not immediate.
- Swelling is common for about 1 week.
- Some swelling may last longer depending on individual healing.
- The neck may feel tight, firm, or uneven during recovery.
- The skin gradually attaches and tightens over time.
- Most patients begin to see clearer improvement over 2–3 months.
- Subtle improvement may continue for several months.
Numbness Around the Chin or Mouth
Temporary numbness or reduced sensation around the chin, lower face, or mouth area may occur after neck laser liposuction.
- This is usually temporary.
- It may last for 1–2 days in many patients.
- Mild tightness or altered sensation can also occur during healing.
- Please do not worry if the sensation gradually improves.
- Contact the clinic if numbness suddenly worsens or is accompanied by severe swelling or pain.
Shaving After Surgery
For male patients or patients who shave the neck area, please avoid shaving during the early healing period.
- Do not shave the treated neck area for about 1 week after surgery.
- The skin may be more sensitive after laser treatment.
- Shaving too early may irritate the skin or cause small wounds.
- Resume shaving only when the skin feels calm and the clinic confirms it is safe.
Showering and Hygiene
- You may begin showering as instructed by the clinic.
- Use warm water, not hot water.
- Do not scrub or rub the treated area.
- Pat the area dry gently.
- Avoid hot baths, saunas, hot springs, swimming pools, and ocean swimming for 1–2 weeks or until the incision sites have healed.
Massage and Skin Care
- Do not perform facial massage, neck massage, or acupuncture massage for about 2 weeks after surgery.
- Do not apply strong pressure to the treated area.
- Do not use aggressive skincare treatments on the neck until approved by the clinic.
- Gentle skin care may resume when the skin has calmed and there is no irritation.
Diet and Daily Activity
- Take prescribed medications 3 times per day after meals, if provided.
- Most foods are allowed after surgery.
- Avoid alcoholic beverages during early recovery.
- Limit excessively salty foods, as they may worsen swelling.
- Light daily activities such as walking are encouraged.
- Keep your head elevated when resting during the first few days.
What Is Normal During Healing?
- Swelling under the chin and around the neck.
- Mild bruising or discoloration.
- Temporary lumpiness or unevenness.
- Temporary tightness of the skin.
- Mild asymmetry during early healing.
- Temporary numbness around the chin, mouth, or lower face.
These changes are usually temporary and gradually improve as swelling decreases and the skin contracts.
When Will I See My Results?
Swelling Phase
Swelling is usually most noticeable during the first week. The neck may look fuller before it begins to look slimmer.
Early Improvement
Swelling gradually improves, but the skin may still feel firm or tight.
Skin Attachment and Contour Improvement
The skin continues to contract and attach smoothly to the underlying tissue. Most patients notice clearer improvement during this period.
Continued Refinement
Subtle tightening and contour refinement may continue as the healing process matures.

Important Note
Neck laser liposuction recovery requires patience. Swelling, tightness, mild unevenness, and temporary numbness are normal during the early healing period. Because the skin must gradually contract and attach after fat removal, final results usually become more visible after 2–3 months. Please follow compression, cold pack, shaving, and follow-up instructions carefully for the safest recovery and best possible result.
