Liposcution & Gland Removal

..

In Gynecomastia surgery,

Skin elasticity is the most important thing.

Fat removed and doesn’t matter, but after surgery is wired.

I have been stretched skin of the key is how much momentum restored.

Exercise, weak from the first weeks after surgery.

A strong at a gym for two weeks after stitch out.

This exercise and diet, and management, etc.

Wired the empty space on the loose skin of the removed fat and restored to well.

Very important.

Arm Liposuction for Postpartum Skin Laxity

32-Year-Old Female | 1 Month After Surgery

This 32-year-old female patient presented with concerns about the appearance of her upper arms following childbirth. Although she was not overweight, she noticed a decline in skin elasticity after delivery, resulting in a soft, “flabby” texture and a slightly bulky, drooping contour—particularly along the lower portion of the arms.

Patient Concerns

  • Loss of skin firmness after pregnancy
  • Mild sagging of the lower arms
  • “Stubby” or thick appearance despite overall slim body shape
  • Discomfort when wearing sleeveless clothing

Treatment Consideration

In such cases, brachioplasty (arm lift surgery) can be considered, especially when significant skin redundancy is present. However, this patient was relatively young and frequently wore sleeveless clothing, making visible scarring a major concern.

Therefore, instead of proceeding directly to excisional surgery, a less invasive approach was selected.

Surgical Approach

We performed 360-degree arm liposuction, with a primary focus on the lower arm region where the laxity was most noticeable.

Although the total fat volume was not excessive, the weight of the fat contributed significantly to the downward pull, accentuating the sagging appearance. By removing this fat:

  • The overall arm weight was reduced
  • The downward tension on the skin decreased
  • A natural lifting effect was achieved without scars

Results (1 Month Post-Op)

At just 1 month after surgery:

  • The arms appear visibly slimmer and more contoured
  • The lower arm fullness has significantly improved
  • The overall silhouette is more refined and proportional

Importantly, this is still an early stage of recovery. As tissue remodeling and skin retraction continue, we expect further improvement in firmness and lifting over time.

Key Insight

For patients with mild to moderate skin laxity and relatively low fat volume, especially younger individuals, strategic liposuction alone can provide meaningful improvement without the need for more invasive procedures like brachioplasty.

Arm Liposuction Before and After – Upper Body Fat Reduction in a 23-Year-Old Female

Arm Liposuction Before and After – Upper Body Fat Reduction in a 23-Year-Old Female

After 3 weeks

This case features a 23-year-old female patient with a BMI of approximately 28. Interestingly, despite being within the overweight range by BMI standards, her body shape was not uniformly distributed. Her lower body—including the abdomen and thighs—appeared relatively slim, while fat accumulation was more noticeable in the upper body, particularly the arms.

This type of body fat distribution is quite common among Asian women, where localized fat deposits can create disproportion even when overall body weight is not excessively high.

🔹 How Much Fat Should Be Removed?

One of the most common questions patients ask is:
“How much fat should be removed from my arms?”

The answer is not simply “the more, the better.”

In many similar cases, removing around 200cc of fat per arm is often sufficient to produce a visibly slimmer and more defined contour. However, in this particular case, approximately 300cc of fat per arm was removed to achieve optimal balance.

Dr. Jeon emphasizes that:

The goal is not to remove the maximum amount of fat, but to create a smooth, natural contour without irregularities or complications.

🔹 Why Balance Matters More Than Volume

The human body is composed of continuous curves, not isolated segments. If fat is removed aggressively from only one localized area—especially under simple local anesthesia—it can disrupt this natural flow, resulting in unnatural contours or visible irregularities.

For this reason, Dr. Jeon prefers a comprehensive and balanced approach, rather than treating only a single focal point in isolation.

Maintaining harmony between adjacent areas is essential to achieving:

  • Natural-looking results
  • Smooth transitions
  • Long-term aesthetic satisfaction

🔹 Personalized Design Through Consultation

Another critical factor is detailed preoperative consultation.

Each patient has:

  • Different fat distribution
  • Different skin elasticity
  • Different aesthetic goals

The surgical plan must be tailored accordingly to match the patient’s expectations as closely as possible.

🔹 Trend: Creating a More Athletic Arm Contour

An interesting trend in recent years is the increasing number of female patients who prefer a more toned, athletic appearance rather than simply a slimmer arm.

In such cases, selective fat reduction—especially in the upper portion of the deltoid area—can enhance muscle definition and create a more sculpted look.

This approach transforms the goal from:
“just thinner arms” → “structured, contoured arms”

🔹 Key Takeaway

Arm liposuction is not a simple volume-reduction procedure.
It requires:

Strategic planning

Aesthetic understanding of body contours

Individualized surgical design

Ultimately, achieving a natural and refined result depends on precision, balance, and customization—not just the amount of fat removed.
