Skin Excision Gynecomastia Surgery Guide

This guide explains the postoperative dressing and scar management materials used after skin excision gynecomastia surgery (Grade 3–4) at Evita Clinic.

Most Important Notes

  • Do not remove Dermabond Prineo. It will gradually loosen and detach naturally.
  • Disinfect the areolar incision daily. Use Povidone Iodine Swabsticks as instructed.
  • Use Steri-Strips after suture removal. Continue for approximately 2 months.
  • Begin scar gel only after complete healing. Do not apply Scarheal Gold Gel to open wounds.

Dermabond Prineo (IMF Incision)

Dermabond Prineo

Dermabond Prineo protects the inframammary fold (IMF) incision.

  • No daily dressing changes are required.
  • Do not peel, rub, or remove the dressing.
  • The dressing will gradually loosen and detach naturally.
  • You may shower according to your surgeon's instructions.
Daily After Showering

Povidone Iodine Swabstick (Areolar Incision)

Povidone Iodine Swabstick

Daily disinfection of the areolar incision.

  1. Clean the areolar incision once daily after showering.
  2. Start from the center and move outward using circular motions.
  3. Allow the area to dry completely.
  4. Continue for at least 7 days or as instructed.

Important: Please inform the clinic if you have an iodine allergy.

Waterproof Bandage

Waterproof Bandage

Waterproof bandage for temporary protection of the areolar incision.

  • Use only on the areolar incision if instructed.
  • Replace if it becomes wet, loose, contaminated, or uncomfortable.
  • If moisture becomes trapped underneath, remove it and contact the clinic.
After Suture Removal

Steri-Strip

Steri Strip

Steri-Strips support wound healing and reduce scar widening.

  • Apply perpendicular to the incision line.
  • Replace only when loose or naturally detached.
  • Continue use for approximately 2 months.

How to Apply Steri Strips

Correct Steri-Strip placement around the areola.

  1. Clean and dry the skin completely.
  2. Bring wound edges together gently.
  3. Apply strips perpendicular to the incision.
  4. Leave 2–3 mm spacing between strips.
  5. Do not overlap or stretch the strips.
  6. Replace only when loose or detached naturally.
After Complete Healing

Scarheal Gold Gel

Scarheal Gold Gel

Scar management gel for long-term scar care.

  • Start only after the incision has healed completely.
  • Use after Steri-Strip therapy has been completed.
  • Apply a thin layer 2–3 times daily.
  • Massage gently until absorbed.
  • Continue for at least 2–3 months.
  • Do not apply to open wounds or irritated skin.

General Recovery Notes

  • Attend all scheduled follow-up visits.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise and heavy lifting for at least 4 weeks.
  • Follow all postoperative instructions carefully.
  • Contact the clinic if you notice increasing redness, swelling, pain, discharge, or fever.
