Skin Excision Gynecomastia Surgery Guide
This guide explains the postoperative dressing and scar management materials used after skin excision gynecomastia surgery (Grade 3–4) at Evita Clinic.
Most Important Notes
- Do not remove Dermabond Prineo. It will gradually loosen and detach naturally.
- Disinfect the areolar incision daily. Use Povidone Iodine Swabsticks as instructed.
- Use Steri-Strips after suture removal. Continue for approximately 2 months.
- Begin scar gel only after complete healing. Do not apply Scarheal Gold Gel to open wounds.
Postoperative Dressing Timeline
```Dermabond Prineo (IMF Incision)
Dermabond Prineo protects the inframammary fold (IMF) incision.
- No daily dressing changes are required.
- Do not peel, rub, or remove the dressing.
- The dressing will gradually loosen and detach naturally.
- You may shower according to your surgeon's instructions.
Povidone Iodine Swabstick (Areolar Incision)
Daily disinfection of the areolar incision.
- Clean the areolar incision once daily after showering.
- Start from the center and move outward using circular motions.
- Allow the area to dry completely.
- Continue for at least 7 days or as instructed.
Important: Please inform the clinic if you have an iodine allergy.
Waterproof Bandage
Waterproof bandage for temporary protection of the areolar incision.
- Use only on the areolar incision if instructed.
- Replace if it becomes wet, loose, contaminated, or uncomfortable.
- If moisture becomes trapped underneath, remove it and contact the clinic.
Steri-Strip
Steri-Strips support wound healing and reduce scar widening.
- Apply perpendicular to the incision line.
- Replace only when loose or naturally detached.
- Continue use for approximately 2 months.
How to Apply Steri-Strips
Correct Steri-Strip placement around the areola.
- Clean and dry the skin completely.
- Bring wound edges together gently.
- Apply strips perpendicular to the incision.
- Leave 2–3 mm spacing between strips.
- Do not overlap or stretch the strips.
- Replace only when loose or detached naturally.
Scarheal Gold Gel
Scar management gel for long-term scar care.
- Start only after the incision has healed completely.
- Use after Steri-Strip therapy has been completed.
- Apply a thin layer 2–3 times daily.
- Massage gently until absorbed.
- Continue for at least 2–3 months.
- Do not apply to open wounds or irritated skin.
General Recovery Notes
- Attend all scheduled follow-up visits.
- Avoid strenuous exercise and heavy lifting for at least 4 weeks.
- Follow all postoperative instructions carefully.
- Contact the clinic if you notice increasing redness, swelling, pain, discharge, or fever.
Important Note
Skin excision gynecomastia surgery involves additional incision care compared with keyhole surgery. Consistent wound care and scar management are essential for the best cosmetic outcome.
