Body Contouring – Frequently Asked Questions

These answers are provided directly by Dr. Francis Jeon, who has specialized exclusively in body contouring surgery since 2009.

When can I return to daily activities after liposuction?

Most patients can resume light daily activities as early as the day after liposuction. Complete rest is recommended on the day of surgery, but gentle walking or desk-based work is usually possible the following day. Recovery speed may vary depending on the treated area and individual condition. Strenuous exercise, heavy lifting, or activities that significantly increase heart rate are generally recommended after about 3 to 4 weeks. Light walking during the early recovery phase helps reduce swelling and supports faster healing.

Will liposuction leave noticeable scars?

Liposuction scars are typically minimal and strategically placed to be barely noticeable. At Evita Clinic, liposuction is performed through very small incisions—usually less than 1 cm—hidden within underwear lines or natural skin creases. Immediately after surgery, incision sites may appear slightly red, but they gradually fade and blend with the surrounding skin over time. Patients also receive structured postoperative scar-care guidance to ensure scars heal as discreetly as possible.

Will I regain fat or experience weight rebound after liposuction?

Liposuction permanently removes fat cells, making significant weight rebound much less likely. Unlike dieting, which only shrinks fat cells, liposuction physically removes them from the body. While remaining fat cells can still enlarge with excessive overeating, the overall tendency for fat to return to treated areas is greatly reduced. Maintaining a balanced diet and regular light exercise helps preserve the refined body contour long term.

How much fat can be removed in one liposuction procedure?

The goal of liposuction is not maximum fat removal, but safe and well-designed contouring. Removing excessive amounts of fat can compromise skin elasticity and increase the risk of uneven results. At Evita Clinic, liposuction focuses on “designed extraction,” where the optimal amount of fat is carefully determined based on body proportions, skin condition, and safety. This approach helps prevent surface irregularities and creates smooth, natural-looking lines.

How do I know if liposuction alone is enough or if a tummy tuck is needed?

Liposuction alone is effective for excess fat, but significant skin laxity requires abdominoplasty. If the abdomen has good skin elasticity and excess fat is the main concern, liposuction alone can achieve excellent results. However, in cases of loose, overhanging skin after pregnancy or major weight loss, liposuction alone may worsen skin sagging. Patients with separated abdominal muscles (diastasis recti) often benefit from a tummy tuck, which tightens the muscles and removes excess skin to restore a flat, firm abdomen.

What Do Liposuction Scars Really Look Like?

After abdominal liposuction, some patients worry when their incision looks red or slightly open after stitch removal. In most cases, this is a temporary healing variation related to skin tension—not an infection—and with proper wound support and scar care, the incision typically settles into a subtle, normal scar over time.

Central Obesity and the Right Approach to Treatment

Central obesity, often characterized by a protruding abdomen reminiscent of a gym ball—or even Santa Claus after too many cookies—poses significant health risks. Beyond aesthetics, this condition signals an accumulation of visceral fat, contributing to metabolic disorders such as hypertension, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. At Evita Clinic, Dr. Francis Jeon emphasizes a strategic, step-by-step approach to combat central obesity. Starting with visceral fat reduction through diet, exercise, and advanced injectables like GLP-1 medications, the treatment progresses to subcutaneous fat removal via liposuction or tummy tuck, ensuring both health improvements and aesthetic satisfaction. This comprehensive plan not only reshapes the body but also initiates a positive cycle of enhanced metabolism, confidence, and long-term health. Whether you’re aiming to manage central obesity or simply seeking a healthier lifestyle, early intervention is key to success.

Bio-Bond After Liposuction: Everything You Need to Know

"Bio-bond, a common post-operative phenomenon after liposuction, signifies the body's natural healing process. While not a formal medical term, it describes the hardening of tissues as lymphatic fluids and fat particles mix and later solidify. At Evita Clinic, we minimize bio-bond and ensure faster recovery with free high-frequency therapy, lymphatic massages, and, when necessary, dissolving injections. Under Dr. Francis Jeon's expert care, patients experience personalized recovery plans, achieving smoother and more refined results."
